Chinese Cabinet

A Chinese inspired Cabinet.

We set out to match the traditional Chinese furniture aesthetic with the utility of the craftsman cabinet designed by Gustav Stickley during the height of the Arts and Crafts movement, pictured below.

We kept the layout with cabinet doors as well as the varied drawer sizes, but incorporated angled legs in both directions. The side panels are kept flat using the traditional chinese technique of tapered sliding dovetails captured within the frame.

The doubled angles created several challenges for the drawers and cabinet doors, as they were individually dovetailed and angled.
